F-16 – in Ukraine: Zelensky showed the first Western fighters (video)

On August 4, 2024, Zelensky officially confirmed that Ukraine had finally received the first Western F-16 fighters.

This was confirmed by the head of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his greeting on the occasion of the Air Force Day. He officially announced the receipt of the aircraft on the symbolic date of August 4 – the Air Force Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“F-16 in Ukraine. We have ensured this. I am proud of all our guys who master these aircraft well and have already started using them for our country. I thank our team for this result. I thank all partners who really effectively help with the F-16, and the first countries that accepted our request for aircraft – Denmark, the Netherlands, the United States – and all our partners – we appreciate your support,” Zelensky said.

The President noted that since the beginning of the invasion, the Ukrainian side has constantly heard from its allies that receiving Western aircraft is impossible.

“We often heard the word ‘impossible’ in response, but we still made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now it is truly a reality, a reality in our skies,” the head of state noted.

Zelensky is confident that a new stage has begun in the development of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He did not specify how many Western aircraft Ukraine received.
