US troops were wounded in a drone attack in Syria, Reuters reports.

Several US and coalition troops suffered minor injuries after a drone attack in Syria on Friday, August 9, Reuters reported, citing a US official.

The injured were moved to another location for check-ups. According to Reuters, US troops in northeastern Syria were attacked by a drone in the Rumalin landing zone. It was the second attack on US forces in the Middle East. Hamas claimed the death of its leader Ismail Ghaniya in Tehran on July 31, 2024.

Iran has raised a “red flag of revenge” after threatening a “severe response”. The Ain al-Asad airbase in western Iraq was attacked with missiles overnight on August 6, injuring at least five people. The US expects more strikes on its troops in the Middle East after the attack on the Ain al-Asad airbase.
