The prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague has asked judges to consider a request for international arrest warrants for Israel's prime minister, defense minister and Hamas chief. He argues that the court has jurisdiction to investigate allegations of crimes against the Palestinian population.
A letter has been made public in which the prosecutor stresses that this is established law and proposes to reject petitions against the intervention of the International Criminal Court from 18 governments and 40 organizations. The request to consider the application for arrest warrants is considered urgent.
The prosecutor insists on the request being processed without delay, pointing out that delays in the process violate the rights of the victims. He stresses the importance of a fair trial in this case.
