The Moscow region has allocated significant amounts of money for “support for foreign citizens evacuated from the State of Palestine to the Russian Federation”. According to the recently published decree of the regional government318,203,000 rubles will be spent for these purposes.
The poverty rate in Russia was 8.5% in 2023 – that's almost 13 million people living below the poverty line, unable to afford basic things and suffering from economic hardship.
The irony is that instead of spending money to help its citizens, Putin's government invests in image projects. Maybe it should pay attention to its own people, who suffer from a lack of basic means for survival, before spending on maintaining its image in the world (mainly the Arab world)?
The situation is really strange: more than 10% of the Russian population lives below the poverty line, and here such expenses are spent on events for non-Russians. Don't you think that something is wrong here?
In April of this year, it was announced that Russia had agreed to accept 1,447 refugees from Palestine.
According to the original plan, the refugees were distributed among various regions of the country: Yaroslavl, Lipetsk, Ryazan, Tver and Tula regions, as well as Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, Chechnya, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan. Most of the Palestinians were sent to Muslim regions of Russia, where it was planned to place 892 people, in particular to Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia and Bashkortostan.
The document does not specify how many Palestinians will live in the Moscow region using taxpayers' money. According to the list attached to the regional mayor's office's resolution, the Moscow region authorities will spend 318,203,000 rubles on “accommodation and feeding of citizens and temporarily resettled residents of other subjects of the Russian Federation, citizens who have left the territory of the State of Palestine.”
It is noted that now the budget will “pay for accommodation in special points and transportation to Rostov for Palestinian refugees.” In addition, they are entitled to one-time financial assistance. “Travel and financial assistance cannot exceed 1,500 rubles, accommodation and food in the temporary accommodation point — 2,300 rubles per day.
According to the document, the region will allocate 318,203 thousand rubles “to help refugees” and almost 4 thousand rubles for travel and one-time financial assistance. The largest amount was received by Korolev – 104,558 thousand rubles, Sergiev Posad – 103,889 thousand rubles, Podolsk – 69,902 thousand rubles, Klin – 43,625 thousand rubles,” the text of the publication says.
