Prime Minister's speech Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu at the UN General Assembly on September 27, 2024 was full of strong statements and emotional examples. The main purpose of the speech was to clarify Israel's position before the international community in response to the criticism and lies that, according to Netanyahu, were addressed to Israel from the UN rostrum.

At the beginning of his speech, Netanyahu noted that he did not plan to come to the session this year because Israel is at war and fighting for its existence. However, he decided to come after hearing attacks on his country. He emphasized that he came to speak on behalf of the Israeli people and to defend the truth. The prime minister said Israel strives for peace and has always sought ways to achieve it, but faces “savage enemies” who want to destroy it.

One of the key points of the speech was the Hamas attack on October 7, which Netanyahu described as an unprecedented and terrible attack comparable to the Nazi Holocaust. He detailed the brutality of Hamas terrorists, who killed more than 1,200 people and took hundreds of people hostage, many of whom remain captive. Netanyahu mentioned the specific names of the hostages and their families present in the room, adding a personal and emotional touch to the speech. The prime minister promised that Israel would continue to fight until all the hostages were returned home.

Netanyahu also mentioned that aggression against Israel has spread to six war fronts orchestrated by Iran, starting with the Hezbollah attack from Lebanon on October 8 and continuing attacks by Shiite militias from Yemen, Syria and Iraq. According to him, Iran plays a central role in spreading terror and destabilizing the region, seeking to destroy Israel and threatening global security.

The Prime Minister made an important statement, emphasizing that Israel will not allow Iran to develop its nuclear program to the stage of creating nuclear weapons. He noted that the world has ignored Iran's aggression and domestic repression for too long, and called on the international community to support Israeli efforts to prevent the Iranian nuclear threat. Netanyahu appealed to the UN Security Council to restore sanctions against Iran.

In his speech, Netanyahu used the metaphor of two cards: the “blessing card” and the “curse card.” The first symbolizes peace and prosperity as Israel builds partnerships with Arab countries, building a land corridor from Asia to Europe, ensuring stable development and security. The second map represents the “arc of terror” that Iran has created, spreading terrorism and chaos throughout the Middle East and threatening world peace. Netanyahu said that the choice between these cards is fateful for all humanity.

Netanyahu paid special attention to the successes of the Israeli army in the fight against Hamas. He said that within a year of the start of the war, Israel had destroyed much of Hamas' infrastructure, including their tunnels and rocket arsenals. According to him, the Israeli army destroyed 23 of Hamas's 24 combat battalions, thereby significantly weakening their combat effectiveness. However, he stressed that the war is not over and Israel will continue to clear out the remaining terrorists and infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also touched upon the humanitarian situation in Gaza, saying that Hamas is using humanitarian aid to enrich itself by stealing food and selling it at inflated prices. He expressed his determination to end Hamas' rule in Gaza, arguing that as long as the terrorist organization remains in power, it will regroup and threaten Israel again.

Concluding his speech, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel has chosen the path of peace and prosperity and strives to create stable and peaceful relations with Arab countries, despite the threat of terror. He expressed confidence in victory and promised that Israel will do everything possible to protect its country and its citizens, as well as ensure peace and security in the region and throughout the world.
