Leading Czech diplomat Tomas Pojar said an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East would only make the situation worse rather than solve the problem. He expressed this in an interview with Euractiv. Poyar stressed that such a decision would lead to the resumption of bloodier clashes.

The diplomat expressed the opinion that the ceasefire would give terrorist organizations the opportunity to regroup and prepare for new hostilities. According to him, groups such as Hezbollah or Hamas will quickly regain their strength and begin a new wave of violence.

Pojar emphasized the Czech Republic's long and strong friendship with Israel, considering Prague one of Israel's most reliable allies in Europe. He concluded that responsibility for civilian deaths in conflicts lies with Iranian-controlled terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

The possibility of introducing trade restrictions and additional sanctions against Israel in connection with “violations of humanitarian law in Gaza” is also being discussed. These actions are supported by some countries, including Finland and Ireland.
