Archaeologists have discovered a rare fifth-century Christian pendant in Turkey depicting King Solomon on horseback slaying the devil with a spear. It is the only pendant of its kind found in Anatolia, a region covering most of modern-day Turkey.

The bronze pendant has inscriptions in ancient Greek. The text on King Solomon's side translates as “Our Lord has conquered evil,” and on the other side the four angels are named: “Azrael, Gabriel, Michael and Israfil.” It is a symbol of religion and power.

The artifact was used as an amulet that protects against evil or danger. King Solomon, mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, was the ruler of ancient Israel in the 10th century BC. e., but there is little archaeological evidence about it.

The pendant was discovered during excavations in Adrianople, an ancient settlement in Turkey. Based on the archaeological layer, it dates back to the fifth century, when Adrianople was part of the Byzantine Empire. Çelikbash is confident that this artifact is a Christian pendant.
