Hezbollah leader declares victory over Israel

Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Kassem spoke to supporters after a ceasefire in southern Lebanon. He declared a “heroic victory greater than in 2006” and “agreement to a truce with the aggressor when they gained the upper hand.”

“Israel started the war with the intention of destroying Hezbollah, but they were able to resist and attack the enemy.”

“Israel expected to quickly achieve its goals after damaging Hezbollah’s leadership and arsenals.” But Hezbollah managed to hold out and attack the enemy in the rear.”

“We won a heroic victory and agreed to a truce. Israel wanted to destroy us, but we held out and attacked targets in the rear,” Kassem said.
