El Al Airlines announced the cessation of flights to Moscow until the beginning of April 2025 due to the crash of an Azerbaijani plane hit by a Russian anti-missile missile over Grozny. The news has caused uncertainty among passengers despite the company conducting a comprehensive assessment of the situation.
According to the airline, the cessation of air traffic between Israel and Russia will last until the end of the current winter schedule, that is, until March. The decision to stop flights was made after discussions with Russian authorities. Passengers affected by these changes have been notified.
Thousands of passengers are now looking for alternative ways to return from Moscow to Israel, as the Israeli airline has held back five weekly flights. The grounding of flights also affected the Azerbaijani airline, making the situation even more difficult for Israelis whose transit through Baku was an important step on their way to Russia.
