Relations between Israel and Turkey are in a difficult state, but both countries retain common interests. In the past, they have worked together to curb the influence of Iran and radical groups in Syria. But recent events related to the war in the Gaza Strip have worsened the situation: Türkiye has condemned Israel, supported Hamas and severed trade ties.
However, going forward, both countries have common goals. They are both interested in stability in the Middle East, in the fight against terrorism and in preventing the spread of Iranian influence. Long-standing economic ties also continue to play an important role, despite political differences.
Experts believe that the crisis should not exclude the opportunity for pragmatic dialogue. Perhaps the parties can reach an interim agreement that will allow them to cooperate at least at a minimum level, especially in the areas of security and the fight against terrorism. The increasing isolation of Turkey and the difficult situation in the region may serve as an impetus for restoring interaction between the parties.
