High-Level Debates at the UN

At the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, high-level debates have begun. U.S. President Donald Trump spoke at the event, taking the podium as the host.

Main Points of Trump’s Speech

The President read his text from a sheet due to a malfunctioning teleprompter. In his speech, he noted that six years have passed since his participation in the first session. Trump said that back then, the world was in a state of peace and prosperity, and his departure provoked chaos. He presented the current moment as a “golden age” for the U.S., citing economic growth and the activation of stock markets. Trump also commented on his administration’s fight against illegal immigration, urging other countries to take this path as an example.

Conflicts and the Role of the UN

According to Trump, during his first seven months of presidency, he managed to end seven wars, among which Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, Pakistan and India were mentioned. Emphasizing criticism towards the UN, Trump said that he managed to resolve conflicts with the organization’s complete inaction, which he finds a sad fact.

Iran and Other Issues

Trump also mentioned the U.S.’s involvement in attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, noting that now “practically all former military commanders of Iran are dead.” Additionally, he pointed to active negotiations to end the conflict in Gaza, which, however, were rejected by Hamas. The President criticized the decision of some UN states to recognize the Palestinian state, calling it a “reward” for Hamas’s acts, and expressed the need for the immediate release of hostages.

Criticism of Policy and War

In conclusion, Trump emphasized the need to end the war in Gaza, stating that the issue of the last hostage is the most difficult. He noted that among the 48 hostages in Gaza, according to his data, 38 have already died. Trump also touched on the issue of the conflict in Ukraine, claiming to be working on its resolution, but noted that the situation is more complicated than expected.

Relations with China and Russia

Trump lashed out at China and India, calling them participants in financing the war by buying oil from Russia. He again threatened to impose new tariffs against Russia but added that he would not do so as long as European countries continue purchasing oil products.

Immigration Policy

A significant part of the address was devoted to criticizing the immigration policies of various governments, including the United Kingdom. Trump called London Mayor Sadiq Khan a “terrible mayor” and stated that countries allowing illegal immigrants to stay are “going to hell.”

Speaking Time and Future Debates

Trump’s speech lasted 45 minutes instead of the allotted 15. The high-level debates will continue until September 30 and will gather representatives from all 193 UN member countries to discuss current international issues.
