On November 4, 2024, the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv will host a screening of the restored version of the animated film “Bobe Mayses”. Created based on Jewish folklore, the film was first shown 31 years ago and since then has remained a unique work of Ukrainian animation. Thanks to the efforts of the film studio “MAGIKA-FILM”, the film was digitized and re-dubbed in Ukrainian with the participation of the legendary actress Ada Rogovtseva.

  • Place: Ukrainian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv (Irmiyahu St., 22).
  • After the show: discussion with producer Gennady Kofman and production designer Natalya Krashchina.
  • Registration: required to log in, link will be posted later.
  • Donat: recommended 40 shekels.

“Recreating 'Bobe Mayses' is not just a restoration of the film, but a return to our cultural roots,” emphasized Gennady Kofman.


Return of Ukraine's animation heritage

The film “Bobe Mayses” was shot on analog film and was on the verge of destruction for a long time. Only three decades later, this unique animation will again appear before the audience, and for the first time in the Ukrainian-language version. This project was made possible thanks to the support of the Dovzhenko Center and the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, which made it possible to restore and adapt the film in Ukrainian.
