European states have developed a new large-scale initiative to establish a comprehensive peace in the Middle East region, “the goal of which is to save Israel,” reports Iranian publication Tehran Times.
France, Germany and Britain plan to “formally recognize the state of Palestine, provided that Iran also recognizes Israel and stops funding terrorist organizations in the region.”
The initiative, dubbed “Abraham Accords II,” does not include demands on Israel to release imprisoned terrorists.
The United States is believed to support this initiative.
The Abraham Accords were originally drafted by the Trump administration and led to peace treaties between Israel and several Arab countries. The Saudi agreement was delayed by the attack and subsequent war.
According to the Tehran Times, the Europeans understand that it will be difficult for them to convince Iran to comply with the conditions, but they are still “trying to push forward their plan.”
