Hamra spoke about the family history of his father, who served as chief rabbi of Syria and worked with the government to preserve Jewish cultural heritage sites. He emphasized his affiliation with and respect for Syrian culture, expressing hope for the restoration of the Jewish community in the country. The rabbi expressed confidence that under the leadership of Abu Muhammad al-Julani, Syria will become a multicultural and tolerant country where all religious groups can live in peace and security.
The rabbi paid special attention to the Jobar synagogue, one of the oldest in the world, near Damascus, considering it a symbol of the country's rich history. He called for cooperation in preserving and restoring Jewish heritage in Syria to ensure future generations have access to this historic piece of cultural heritage.
