Borrell said the EU is ready to allocate 200 million euros for the Lebanese armed forces

Josep Borrell said that the European Union is ready to allocate 200 million euros for the Lebanese armed forces. He noted that the conflict in Lebanon has reached an international level and requires the intervention of the international community. Lebanon faced collapse due to the war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Borrell said Israeli airstrikes “killed more than 3,500 people, triple the number in 2006.” He called for a ceasefire and noted that the success of peace efforts depends on the parties.

“To hasten the end of the war, Lebanese leaders must take political responsibility, start electing a president and end the power vacuum in Lebanon,” Borrell said.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported the death of at least 20 people as a result of an Israeli airstrike in central Beirut on November 23. The Israeli operation in Lebanon began on the night of September 30, when the Israel Defense Forces began striking Hezbollah in Lebanon. Hezbollah responded by launching rocket attacks on the cities of Haifa and Tiberias.

The IDF said Israeli fighter jets attacked Hezbollah's intelligence headquarters in Beirut, as well as the group's facilities in southern Lebanon. In the following days, Israeli bombing attacks targeted various Hezbollah targets. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel defeated Hezbollah and emphasized the elimination of the group's leader Hassan Nasrallah.
