Justice Minister Yariv Levin plans to continue the “judicial reform” that sparked protests in 2023. He intends to change the procedure for selecting judges to the High Court of Justice, which has escalated the standoff between the government and the attorney general. Levin seeks to undermine the independence of the Supreme Court by taking the first steps toward change.

During a cabinet meeting, Levin announced his plans and expressed confidence in the coalition's support. He said that it would be necessary to convince several coalition members to pass the bill. The minister also intends to talk to the opposition to reach agreements on the issue.
