Erdogan urges the US and other countries to pressure Israel to “observe the ceasefire in Gaza”

President of Turkey Tayyip Erdogan called on the international community, including the USA, “to increase pressure on Israel to comply with the ceasefire in Gaza.” He suggested considering the possibility of sanctions or halting arms sales.

The Role of Turkey in Negotiations

Turkey, being a NATO member and one of the most active critics of Israel’s actions in Gaza, has intensified its involvement in ceasefire negotiations. After Erdogan’s meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, its role in this process became more significant.

Erdogan emphasized that “Hamas is adhering to the ceasefire, while Israel continues to violate it.” He noted the need for more active actions from the international community, especially the USA, to “ensure Israel’s compliance with its obligations.”

Task Force and Gaza Reconstruction

Ankara declared its readiness to join a “task force” that will monitor the implementation of the ceasefire. The Turkish armed forces can perform both military and civilian functions if required.

Erdogan also stressed the importance of international support in the reconstruction of Gaza, calling on Gulf countries to participate in financing this process.
