The International Football Federation (FIFA) has published the composition of the groups ahead of the draw for European qualification for the 2026 World Cup. The information was published on the official FIFA website. The teams were divided into five pots, from which 12 qualifying groups will be formed. Ukraine ended up in the second pot, and Russia was not allowed to participate in the qualifying tournament. Belarus, in turn, is in the fourth basket.
The first basket included France, Spain, England, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Switzerland, Denmark and Austria. The second basket is occupied by Ukraine, Sweden, Turkey, Wales, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Romania, Greece, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Norway. The third basket is filled by Scotland, Slovenia, Ireland, Albania, North Macedonia, Georgia, Finland, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Israel.
The fourth basket contains Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Belarus, Kosovo, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Latvia and Lithuania. The fifth basket is filled by Moldova, Malta, Andorra, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein and San Marino. The draw will take place on Friday, December 13th. The 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada and will be the first in history in which 48 teams will play in the finals. The World Cup will last 39 days, during which 104 matches will be played, which will also be a record.
