The heads of diplomacy called on Israel and all parties to respect their obligations to ensure the safety of peacekeepers. The foreign ministers of Germany, France, Italy and Britain have expressed concern about Israeli attacks on UN peacekeeping bases in Lebanon.
They stressed the importance of immediately stopping such actions and condemned all threats to the safety of peacekeepers. The ministers noted that attacks on peacekeepers violate international law and UN resolutions. The protection of peacekeepers is the responsibility of all parties to the conflict.
The diplomatic chiefs called on Israel and other parties to respect their obligations to ensure the safety of UN peacekeepers who play a key role in stabilizing the situation in southern Lebanon.
