May 9, 2025, Haifa, Israel. The “Immortal Regiment” parade in Haifa, which was meant to be an event to honor those who gave their lives for victory over Nazism, ended in a “shameful” scene that represents a real threat from “foreign propaganda” to the values Israel is built upon.
Here are the details – Shameful incident at the “Immortal Regiment” march (with Russian flags and the participation of Russian diplomats) in Haifa: an Israeli citizen holding a sign “Do not defile the memory of our ancestors, they did not bomb Kyiv” was thrown into a fountain by participants of this “march”, a real threat to the human values that Israel is so proud of.
In Haifa, on May 9, 2025, during the “Immortal Regiment” march, participants holding Russian flags and Russian diplomats present, an incident occurred that became a disturbing signal for Israel. An Israeli citizen with a sign “Do not defile the memory of our ancestors, they did not bomb Kyiv” was thrown into a fountain by march participants. This act of violence and aggression not only shocks but also symbolizes how Russian propaganda finds support in Israel, threatening the human values that the country is so proud of.
The incident at the march in Haifa has become a disturbing signal for Israel, showing how distorted ideologies of history can penetrate society. Every year it becomes more obvious how Russian propaganda is attempting to rewrite history, turning Victory Day into a tool for justifying aggression, falsifying historical truth.
This event once again emphasizes that for countries like Israel, freedom of speech, historical truth, and the protection of democratic values must come first. Support for ideologies that contradict these values can pose a threat to the very essence of the country.
We demand the suspension of Evgeny Bazkor from police service and the revocation of his weapon permit
“We, the undersigned citizens of the State of Israel, are deeply concerned about the incident that occurred on May 9, 2025, in Haifa, during the “Immortal Regiment” ceremony, dedicated to the memory of those who fell in World War II.
According to eyewitness testimony and video recordings, Israeli citizen Evgeny Bazkor, who is serving voluntarily in the police, along with several unidentified individuals, attacked 62-year-old Israeli citizen Vitaliy Kardash, who participated in a solo protest with a sign containing a personal opinion: “Do not defile the memory of our ancestors — they did not bomb Kyiv”.
This sign reflected a peaceful and lawful expression of opinion, protected by the Basic Law on Human Dignity and Freedom, including freedom of speech. However, Mr. Bazkor, for unknown reasons, perceived this as a provocation and an insult, using physical force. As a result of the attack, Mr. Kardash was beaten and thrown into an active fountain, creating a direct threat to his life and health. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers twice prevented Kardash from escaping the fountain, accompanying their actions with shouting, mockery, and insults.
We believe that such behavior is completely incompatible with the duties of a voluntary police officer and is unacceptable for someone who has a weapon permit.
Based on the above, we demand:
1. Immediate suspension of Evgeny Bazkor from voluntary police service.
2. Immediate revocation of his weapon permit.
3. A full investigation into the incident to identify all participants in the attack and bring them to justice in accordance with the law.
4. Measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
We remind that Israel is a democratic state where every citizen has the right to freedom of expression. Attempts to suppress dissent with force are a path to the destruction of law and order and the foundations of civil society.
Sign this petition if you believe that in Israel there is no place for street violence, especially from those trusted by society.”
