In September 2025, Ukraine’s air defense forces destroyed more than 10,000 aerial targets of the Russian armies. The largest number among the downed objects were drones, as well as missiles of various types.

Details of Air Defense Work

The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that during the month, 10,215 targets were destroyed:

  • 79 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-55SM;
  • two ballistic missiles “Iskander-M/KN-23”;
  • 20 cruise missiles “Kalibr”;
  • 9 guided aviation missiles Kh-59/69;
  • 15 cruise missiles “Iskander-K”;
  • 2724 Shahed-type strike drones;
  • 755 reconnaissance drones;
  • 6610 drones of other types.

During the September operations, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down 516 aerial targets. Not only drones and missiles were destroyed, but also command posts, logistics facilities, as well as concentrations of enemy personnel and equipment.

Operations of Ukrainian Aviation

In September 2025, the aviation of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made 327 sorties, indicating high activity in the airspace:

  • about 270 sorties were carried out for fighter cover purposes;
  • more than 50 for fire damage to the enemy and air support of their troops.

Support for Air Defense

Also, a few weeks before September, it became known that Israeli air defense systems are helping Ukraine protect critical facilities from Russian attacks. Modern Patriot complexes have proven to be an effective means of strengthening Ukrainian air defense in the face of the approaching winter.

Advantages of the Enemy

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Russia maintains an advantage in terms of the number of weapon systems, including missiles, drones, and artillery. This situation creates additional challenges for the Ukrainian Air Force and air defense in active combat conditions.

The military emphasizes: “We hit the enemy in the sky and on the ground! Together – to victory!” This expression has become a kind of motto for the Ukrainian air defense forces and aviation, aimed at achieving a common goal. The work continues, and the results already have strategic significance for the entire country.
