The May 19, 2024, plane crash that killed Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi was attributed to weather conditions, including thick fog, Reuters reported. The final report, reported by Iranian state television, said the main cause of the helicopter crash was the harsh weather conditions in the region. Thick fog caused the helicopter carrying the president and his companions to crash into a mountain. A preliminary report by the Iranian military in May said its investigation found no signs of foul play or attack.

On May 19, a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi crashed, killing all on board. It was later revealed that the crash was due to a technical malfunction.
