Israel is discussing a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and the removal of Hezbollah militants from the border. Israeli officials believe that most of the group's missile arsenal has already been destroyed, Bloomberg reports.

Following Washington's proposal for a ceasefire in Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with his aides. Representatives of American President Brett McGurk and Amos Hochstein are scheduled to arrive in Israel on Thursday, October 31.

The plan calls for a 60-day ceasefire, during which mediators will hammer out a peace agreement to withdraw Hezbollah fighters from the border security zone and increase the number of UN peacekeepers, Israel's Channel 12 reported.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that “the war in the north will end before the end of the year.” According to journalists, many obstacles must be overcome to reach a peace agreement, especially given previous failed attempts at a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The level of support for the peace proposal from Hezbollah fighters is unclear at this point given their recent losses, including the killing of leader Hassan Nasrallah.
