A study published in the US and Israel on December 23, 2024, revealed that the value of property confiscated by the Syrian Jewish community was estimated to be over $10 billion at current market prices. JJAC presented the results of the study after six years of work and plans to publish data on other Arab countries.

Jews in the Middle East and North Africa lived thousands of years before the advent of Islam, but the 20th century's expulsion from 11 Arab countries became one of the largest deportations ever, JJAC said. The Jewish community in Syria was considered one of the oldest, having existed for more than 2,500 years, engaging in international trade.

After World War II, Jews in Syria were subjected to severe persecution, which led to massive confiscations of property, economic pressure and the decline of the community to the point of virtual extinction.

The study found that in 1947, the assets of Syrian Jews were valued at $200 million, which is more than $10 billion today. To achieve peace in the Middle East, it is necessary, according to JJAC, to restore historical justice and recognition of the history of Jews from Arab countries and Iran.
