Acting Governor of Kursk Oblast Alexey Smirnov and several Russian military bloggers reported that military actions were continuing in the border areas of Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts of Kursk Oblast. These reports contradict statements by the Russian Defense Ministry and the Russian FSB that the raids were repelled.

The source of information about the events was the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which noted that Russian sources claim a series of Ukrainian raids across the border into the Kursk region on August 6.

Geolocation data released on August 6 shows damaged and abandoned armored vehicles north of the Kursk region border. Russian sources note the presence of Ukrainian vehicles in the footage, but ISW is unable to determine their origin.

Ukrainian forces are said to have attacked from two directions: from the Sudzha checkpoint and from the village of Novoye in the direction of Nikolayevo-Darino, Kursk region. Military bloggers also speak of resistance from Russian reserve forces and elements of the Chechen special forces “Akhmat”.
