On September 29 at 12:00 in Kyiv there will be a March in Memory of the Victims of Babi Yar.

Every year, the organizers of the March remind themselves and the people around them of the tragedy of Babi Yar, which occurred on September 29 and 30, 1941. After all, the tragedy of Babi Yar is a terrible reality of the past, which became the present in Ukraine with the beginning of a full-scale war.

This is reported by United Jewish Community of Ukraine.

In two days, the lives of 33,771 Kyiv Jews were cut short. Among those shot were elderly people, women and children. Mass murders of Jews and representatives of other nations and religions continued until the end of 1943. More than 120,000 people were killed in Babi Yar alone.

Participants of the March of Remembrance will gather on September 29 (Sunday), at 12:00 in the park opposite the Kyivska Rus cinema (93 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street, Kyiv) and will march in a column to Babi Yar to honor the memory of the Babi Yar victims, most of whom were Jews.

The March's program remains the same every year:

📍12:00 – gathering near the Kyiv Rus cinema;
📍12:05 — the March organizers hold a briefing for participants regarding the route and rules of conduct during the march;
📍12:15 – March participants walk in a column to the Menorah monument in Babi Yar (the route of the procession is the same as the one the Jews took in 1941);
📍13:10 — in Babi Yar, the rabbi will read the memorial prayer “Kadysh”
📍13:20 — The march ends.
