The United States has criticized the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former head of the Israeli Ministry of Defense Yoav Galant. This was reported by The Times of Israel, citing a representative of the US National Security Council.

The US “rejects in principle” this decision, as it believes that the ICC has no jurisdiction in this case, since Israel is not a member of the court.

The US believes that the ICC does not have the authority to issue arrest warrants in this case, since Israel is not a member of the court and the US is not a party to the Rome Statute.

The ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant for “crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip from October 8, 2023 to May 20, 2024.” Israeli authorities objected to this decision, believing that the ICC does not have the right to consider this issue.
