The ruling party in Moldova, oriented towards Europe, achieved a confident victory in the parliamentary elections, leaving the pro-Russian bloc behind. This became known from the preliminary voting results announced on Monday, September 29, 2025.

The successes of President Maia Sandu’s Action and Solidarity Party provided the government and its European partners with a sense of calm amid accusations against Moscow of attempting to influence the election results.

Pre-election polls suggested a challenging confrontation between the sides, but the final results provide the ruling party with a fairly comfortable majority, paving the way for implementing measures aimed at joining the European Union by 2030. The Russian side rejected accusations of interference in Moldova’s internal affairs, which, being close to Ukraine, has significantly distanced itself from the Kremlin in recent years.

This victory also removes the risk of political bargaining, which could have provoked further instability. Local authorities described the Russian campaign as aimed at complicating voting and undermining Chisinau’s aspiration towards Europe.
