Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has issued threats against Israel following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. He said Israel will face revenge for the bloodshed and the future situation depends on the country's reaction to current events. Nasrallah is confident that Iran will not stand aside.
Nasrallah also said that Hezbollah terrorists have been intensifying their actions against Israel since August 2.
The operation against Nasrallah's top military adviser was carried out in response to Hezbollah rocket attacks that killed children. The organization's secretary general also said Israel was in crisis.
Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah issued a statement ahead of schedule on August 1, 2024, calling the killings in Dahiya an act of aggression.
“What happened in Dahiya is not just a liquidation, but an act of aggression. The enemy struck many civilians. The enemy sees the aggression against the suburb as a response, but we do not agree with this assessment and description, it is aggression and part of the Zionist-American war against the peoples of the region,” Nasrallah said.
He reiterated that his fighters were not involved in the rocket that hit a stadium with children in Majdal Shams, where 14 people were killed. Hezbollah had other goals, he said. “We deny our involvement in what happened in Majdal Shams and are ready to admit the mistake if it was our fault. Our internal investigation shows that we have nothing to do with this incident,” Nasrallah said.
He also noted that the assassination of Hamas Politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh was a heavy blow to Hezbollah, as the movement is part of the “axis of resistance.” Nasrallah stressed that Hezbollah will take part in a new stage of the war with Israel. “We are not surprised and will not be surprised by any price we pay in this conflict. We are waging an open war on all fronts: in Gaza, southern Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq and Iran, which is entering a new stage,” he added.
According to Nasrallah, Hezbollah is now considering a “real and thoughtful” response to the killing of Fuad Shukr. The organization’s fighting capacity has not diminished, and there are “new commanders who can replace Shukr and others.” Nasrallah believes that much will depend on Israel’s response to the “axis of resistance,” but the only way to prevent a major escalation is to end the war in Gaza.
