Iran, whose Shahed drones attack Ukrainian cities almost every night, summoned the head of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Tehran, Kyrylo Pozdniakov, to its Foreign Ministry. There, the diplomat was handed an official note of protest.

Tehran also warned of “consequences” if such “hostile and provocative positions” were repeated.
The cynicism of Iran: threatening the country it attacks
This statement is particularly cynical, considering that Iranian Shahed drones are attacking Ukrainian cities every night. Moreover, as a result of an Iranian missile strike on Israel in June 2025, five Ukrainian citizens were killed, including three children fleeing the war.

Interestingly, just one day before the protest note, on June 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address announced synchronized sanctions pressure on Iran.
“Ukraine has fully synchronized the 13th and 14th EU sanction packages against Russia. We will also fully synchronize the EU’s sanctions package against the regime in Iran. This is one of the most brutal regimes in the world, and it is no surprise that putin found common ground with them,” the President of Ukraine said.

- companies engaged in domestic repression.
