The Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, Yevgeny Korniychuk, noted that “the Palestinians are good students of their Russian mentors when it comes to propaganda and disinformation campaigns.” His words came after discussions in Israel about humanitarian supplies and the role of international organizations.

Loud statement after border visit

On August 14, 2025, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel Yevgeny Korniychuk said that together with representatives of foreign missions he visited the Kerem Shalom checkpoint, through which humanitarian aid passes into Gaza, “and received first-hand information about the latest events on the ground and the current status of the humanitarian aid delivery process to the Gaza Strip.”

The delegation reviewed the current situation and the logistics of cargo deliveries.

Following the trip, the diplomat made a statement:

“Obviously, the Russians supply the region not only with their weapons but also with their disinformation technologies,” Korniychuk emphasized.

This thought echoed the statement of Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, who previously said that Moscow helps strengthen the propaganda capabilities of Palestinian structures.

Ukraine and Israel: shared experience against fakes

Korniychuk reminded that Ukraine “knows only too well” how fake factories work. Throughout the war, Russia repeatedly resorted to distorting facts, mass-producing false reports, and creating an alternative informational reality.

  • spreading fake news in international media;
  • using social media to manipulate public opinion;
  • substituting real events with fabricated stories.

Today, the same tools are being applied against Israel.

The Ambassador also noted, “As Minister Sa’ar said at the UN General Assembly session, Palestinians are good students of their Russian teachers in propaganda and disinformation campaigns.”

Border discussions: humanitarian aspect

The information tour was organized by Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel and COGAT, who showed diplomats the process of humanitarian cargo entry into Gaza.

What is COGAT?

COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories) is a division of Israel’s Ministry of Defense dealing with humanitarian and civil matters related to the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian Authority.

.......

Main functions:

  • control and facilitation of humanitarian supplies;
  • permits for Palestinians to work, study, and receive treatment in Israel;
  • coordination of projects with international organizations;
  • liaison with the UN and the Red Cross.

Interview on “Best Radio Israel”

Also live on air, the Ukrainian diplomat shared impressions of the visit:

The temperature was above 40 degrees, and we stood under the sun for over an hour. They showed us transport and cargo, explaining that on Israel’s side there are no restrictions. The real problems begin inside Gaza — there is no proper logistics. The UN refuses, the Red Cross is unable, and the IDF — well, it’s not really their job either.

According to him, ordinary people suffer most, but propaganda also hits Israelis and Jews abroad, who become targets of anti-Israel and antisemitic campaigns.

Hezbollah weapons for Ukraine?

During the meeting, Korniychuk reminded Sharren Haskel of her earlier initiative: when she was a Knesset member, she proposed transferring weapons seized from “Hezbollah” to Ukraine.

“She proposed this when she was a Knesset member. When she became Deputy Minister, she stopped proposing it,” said Korniychuk.

Common threat for both nations

Ukraine and Israel face similar challenges:

  1. Military aggression accompanied by streams of disinformation.
  2. Russia’s attempts to undermine trust in international institutions.
  3. Use of humanitarian crises as leverage.

Opinion of NAnews

The editorial team of NAnews – News from Israel believes the Ukrainian diplomat’s words highlight the strategic closeness of the two countries. For both Kyiv and Jerusalem, propaganda is no less dangerous than weapons.

Ukraine and Israel stand at the frontline of hybrid wars. Success in resisting disinformation is impossible without cooperation — both in cyberspace and in diplomacy.

Conclusions

  • Russia uses the same disinformation methods in Gaza as against Ukraine.
  • Israel faces internal Gaza logistics problems when opening humanitarian channels.
  • Ukraine reminds allies that even seized terrorist weapons can save lives on the front.
  • Israelis and Ukrainians are united by a common task: to resist aggression where fakes are as dangerous as weapons.

This makes Korniychuk’s words not just a diplomatic statement but a call for unity. Israel and Ukraine must strengthen their partnership, as their peoples equally suffer from Russian propaganda.
