In September 2024, a public volunteer organization “Israeli Friends of Ukraine” will purchase sets of dry showers for IDF soldiers and a fully equipped ambulance station for emergency medical care, which will be sent to the front-line areas of Ukraine affected by Russian aggression.
Shimon Briman spoke about this in “Ukrainian-Jewish Zustrich”.
Funds for this purchase were collected from many Israelis, with a significant portion of the donations being collected during the pro-Ukrainian festival “Khutir Nezalezhnosti”which took place on August 24, 2024 in Ramat Gan.
This festival, dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine, brought together more than 3000 people and became a grand celebration of Ukrainian culture, music and folk traditions in Israel. Thanks to the successful holding of this main pro-Ukrainian cultural event of the year in Israel more than 100,000 shekels were collectedwrites Shimon Briman.
Anna Zharovaco-chair of the organization “Israeli Friends of Ukraine,” noted that the energy and support received from the festival participants inspire us to continue working for the victory of Ukraine and Israel, despite all the difficulties facing both countries. She emphasized that the topic of supporting Ukraine remains important for many Israelis, which was clearly evident from the number of people who wanted to attend the festival.
According to Vyacheslav Feldmanalso co-chairman of the organization, the outpatient station will be purchased in Western Europe and adapted to the needs of Ukraine. After that, it will be transferred to one of the front-line cities, such as Sumy or Chernigov, which are constantly suffering from Russian shelling.
Feldman also said that part of the funds raised will be used to purchase sets of dry showers for IDF soldiers. These hygiene kits are designed for use in settings where regular showers are not available, which is especially important for frontline soldiers. The kits will be purchased in Kyiv and then delivered to Israel.
Feldman emphasized that how Ukraine and Israel are now fighting wars for the survival of their peoples, and in this difficult time it is important to provide support to both countries.
He also said that he constantly receives feedback and comments from ordinary Israelis and IDF soldiers in support of Ukraine.
“When we hold events on behalf of the Israeli Friends of Ukraine organization to prepare and distribute Ukrainian traditional delicacies at military bases near the Gaza Strip, we hear from the soldiers words of great sympathy for Ukraine. The defenders of Israel have a full feeling that our peoples are allies and are fighting for common values, freedom, independence, their home and their loved ones,” Feldman said.
