Relatives and friends of reserve sergeant Daniil Pechenyuk, who died on August 24 in Gaza, have called on the public to attend his funeral, which will take place today, August 26, at 5:00 p.m. at the Rehovot military cemetery.
Daniil came from Uzbekistan alone, without his family. His relatives came for the funeral of an Israeli soldier and will spend the shiva mourning in the community center of Rehovot.
Friends of Daniil have appealed to the public to support the funeral to show that a lone soldier is not left alone on his final journey. Daniil Pechenyuk died along with two of his comrades in a bomb blast in Gaza.
