Meeting in Istanbul: Discussion of Ceasefire in Gaza
On November 3, 2025, a meeting of foreign ministers from countries with a Muslim majority will take place in Istanbul. The main topic is the unstable ceasefire in Gaza, where Hamas and Israel continue to exchange accusations of violations. Negotiations on forming forces to monitor the ceasefire are ongoing.
Foreign ministers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Pakistan, and Indonesia will participate in the discussion. The focus is on the ceasefire and the humanitarian situation in Gaza, reports Reuters.
Turkey’s Role and International Efforts
Turkey is actively involved in mediating the ceasefire, expressing readiness to join groups to monitor its implementation. However, Israel opposes such participation, complicating the process of agreeing on the format of monitoring forces and the UN Security Council mandate.
Erdogan’s Statements
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul emphasized that Hamas is adhering to the ceasefire conditions, while Israel has a “very bad record” in this matter. He noted that Ankara will not allow the annexation of the West Bank and changes to the status of Jerusalem.
Erdogan also stated that since the agreement was concluded, Israel has killed more than 200 innocent people and continues the occupation in the West Bank.
Escalation of the Situation and International Reaction
Palestinian residents reported new shelling by Israeli planes and tanks in eastern Gaza on October 30. Israel, in turn, claims it remains committed to the US-backed ceasefire.
Turkey and other countries have expressed concern about the stability of the ceasefire, delaying the transition to the next stages. Questions remain open, and the international community continues to seek paths to stability.
