Russia, which constantly violates international law, has no moral right to tell other countries how to act. However, it once again demonstrates its aggressive policy by interfering in international affairs.
August 30, 2024 Deputy Russia's UN envoy Dmitry Polyansky said the UN Security Council must act “regardless of whether Israel wants it or not,” hinting at the need for forceful intervention.
This example only adds to the long list of aggressive actions by Russia, which has repeatedly violated international law. Since 2022, Russia has been waging a full-scale war against Ukraine, destroying cities and killing civilians. Moscow continues its aggressive policy, ignoring the principles of territorial integrity and the right of peoples to self-determination.
Now Russia is trying to transfer its tactics to the Middle East, putting moral pressure on Israel and accusing it of actions that are actually justified by the defense of its own sovereignty. In his speech, Polyansky accused Israel of “putting forward more and more demands,” which, according to him, could destroy the entire system of agreements in the region. However, this is a typical example of Russian duplicity, when a country that itself destroys international agreements and engages in provocations tries to blame others for this.
The situation in the Gaza Strip is complicated by the actions of the terrorist organization Hamas, which regularly disrupts any attempts to achieve peace. Russia, by supporting groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, contributes to the destabilization of the region and the violation of international law. Israel, protecting its citizens, acts within the law, while Russia supports aggressive regimes and terrorist organizations.
Russia, which destabilized the situation in Ukraine with its interference and aggression, is now trying to do the same in the Middle East. Instead of telling other countries how to conduct their policies, Moscow should look at its own actions, admit its own crimes, and stop interfering in other people's affairs. Russia, which constantly violates international law, has no moral right to condemn the actions of other countries that seek to protect their people and their territories.
