On the night of October 22, 2025, Russia launched strikes on Ukraine using missiles and attack drones. As a result of the attacks on Kyiv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa regions, dozens of people were killed.
Strikes on Kyiv and Kyiv Region
In Kyiv, two people were killed as a result of the strike. One of them was in the Dnipro district, where a fire broke out in a multi-story building. According to the latest data, 19 people were injured, including five children. Nine people, including four children, were hospitalized. This was reported by the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko. Damage was also recorded in the Pechersk, Desnianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Solomianskyi districts.
In the Brovary district of the Kyiv region, at least four people were killed as a result of the attack. The head of the regional military administration, Nikolai Kalashnik, clarified that three of the deceased were a 38-year-old woman, a 12-year-old girl, and a six-month-old infant. The fourth victim was a 38-year-old man.
Victims in Zaporizhzhia Region
The Zaporizhzhia region also suffered losses. The head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that at least 13 people were injured, including two children. The strikes led to damage to 15 multi-story buildings, private houses, and non-residential premises.
Strikes on Odesa
In the Odesa region, in the city of Izmail, the attacks damaged energy and port infrastructure. Fires broke out. The head of the regional administration, Oleg Kiper, noted that there were no casualties.
Energy Disruptions and Consequences
After the attacks, emergency power outages began. The energy company DTEK reported outages in Kyiv and Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk regions. Representatives of the Ministry of Energy clarified that massive strikes on energy infrastructure are causing difficulties with electricity supply in most regions of the country. According to “Ukrenergo,” the most severe situation is observed in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
In addition, “Ukrzaliznytsia” noted damage to infrastructure and de-energized sections of the railway, causing delays and route changes for some trains.
Comments from the President of Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelensky gave his assessment of the events, pointing out the affected regions: among them Kyiv, Odesa, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy, and Sumy.
He emphasized that the ongoing situation confirms insufficient pressure on Russia to end the conflict. Zelensky noted that Russian statements about diplomacy are meaningless as long as the Russian leadership does not face “critical problems.” This situation can only be changed with the help of sanctions, long-range weapons, and coordinated diplomacy from Ukraine’s international partners.
