On the morning of February 17, 2026, Ukraine was once again under a combined attack by the Russian Federation. An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and several regions amid the threat of missile strikes and drone attacks. Launches of X-101/555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic aviation were recorded.
Consequences β large-scale fires, damaged infrastructure, disruptions in water supply and heating in certain areas. Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, and other regions were under attack.
Geography of strikes and initial consequences
According to regional military administrations and monitoring channels, explosions were heard on the night of February 17 in dozens of settlements β from Odesa to Sumy, Kharkiv, and Lviv regions.
The attack was of a combined nature: missiles, strike drones were used, and in some regions, strikes on infrastructure facilities were recorded.
Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region
In Dnipro, a fire broke out in one of the city’s districts. Administrative buildings, a private enterprise, residential buildings, and cars were damaged.
According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, the region was attacked with missiles, drones, artillery, and aerial bombs. Five districts were under attack.
In Kryvyi Rih, an enterprise was damaged. In the Krynychanska community β residential buildings. In the Pokrovska community of the Synelnykove district, a private house was on fire.
In Nikopol, infrastructure facilities, shops, an educational center, apartment buildings, and cars were damaged.
According to preliminary data, there were no casualties.
Kirovohrad region
In the Novoukrainka district, a private house caught fire as a result of a drone attack. The fire was promptly localized by rescuers. Cars were also damaged.
The head of the Regional Military Administration, Andriy Raikovych, reported that there were no casualties or injuries. The situation remains under control.
Ivano-Frankivsk region
In Burshtyn, several explosions occurred in the morning during an air raid alert. The Air Force warned of cruise missiles heading towards the city.
According to monitoring data, at least four missiles, including X-101 and ‘Kalibr’, were flying towards Burshtyn.
In residents’ apartments, the cessation of centralized heating and hot water supply was recorded.
Odesa: water disruptions and casualties
Odesa was attacked by drones at night. An infrastructure facility and several civilian buildings were damaged.
According to city authorities, three people were injured. Two men were hospitalized β one in serious condition, the other in moderate condition. A woman received medical assistance on the spot.
One of the UAVs hit an apartment on the upper floors of a multi-story building. Another drone fell near a private house, damaging the facade and glazing. Another β on the territory of a garage cooperative, where seven garages and two cars were damaged.
Due to power outages, part of Odesa was left without water supply. Consumers in the Kyiv and parts of the Khadzhibey districts, as well as Lymanka, Chervony Khutor, the ‘Raduzhny’, ‘Sovignon 1β5’, ‘Chornomorka’, and ‘Tairovo’ residential areas were left without water.
In certain areas, a decrease in pressure and lack of water on the upper floors were recorded.
Lviv and other regions: Air defense in action
In the Lviv district, air defense was active in the morning. An enemy drone was recorded heading towards Lviv.
The head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, confirmed the operation of air defense. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi urged residents to stay in shelters and not ignore alarm signals.

The scale of the geography confirms the systemic nature of the attack.
Threat to energy and the position of the President of Ukraine
The day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on Russia’s preparation for new massive strikes on energy infrastructure.
According to him, Russian attacks are ‘evolving’ and becoming combined. This requires precise tuning of air defense systems and timely support from partners.
Any delays in the supply of missiles for air defense, the president noted, increase the scale of destruction.
