Educational psychologists and new teachers in certain subjects who will begin working in the area near the Gaza Strip may be eligible for grants of up to NIS 30,000. The decision on grants was made jointly by the Border Settlements Reconstruction Authority, the Finance Ministry and the Education Ministry. Grants will be given to new teachers in several fields, including mathematics, English, computers, physics, biology, chemistry and others.

The final grant amount will depend on the volume of work, and will only be awarded to teachers starting work in the new school year. Also, teachers who already have experience in the education system will be able to receive a retention grant of up to NIS 8,000. The grants will be paid in two stages: part in November 2024 and part in May 2025.

This grant program was developed without the participation of teachers' organizations, and many teachers may express their disagreement with the grant distribution plan. This is especially true for teachers who worked during the war, who will receive less money than newcomers who have not yet worked in the educational system.
