The draft proposal on security guarantees for Ukraine, presented on Friday, offers provisions based on NATO’s Article 5. According to the presented text, the deal is expected to be in effect for ten years from the moment of signing.

The document specifies that a “significant, deliberate, and sustained armed attack” by Russia across the ceasefire line will be considered an act of aggression threatening transatlantic peace. NATO members commit to act in concert with the US in response to any such violations, the text notes.

On the same day, information emerged that the Ukrainian side is experiencing increased pressure from Washington to agree to the framework of a peace agreement with Russia, more so than in previous negotiations. This is reported by two sources familiar with the situation, according to Reuters.

One of the sources, who wished to remain anonymous, indicated that the US is pushing for the Ukrainian side to sign the agreement by next Thursday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukraine and its European allies are actively coordinating efforts to incorporate the principles of their country within the peace plan framework.

Zelensky held a joint call with the leaders of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom to discuss the American peace plan on Friday.

“We are working on the document prepared by the American side. It should be a plan that ensures a real and dignified peace,” Zelensky wrote on X.
