The European Union rejected Borrell's proposal to suspend political dialogue with Israel.

European Union (EU) foreign ministers have not approved the idea of ​​suspending political communication with Israel, Josep Borrell, head of EU diplomacy, said Monday after the EU Foreign Affairs Council. He suggested that the council stop the association agreement with Israel, especially the part that falls under the exclusive competence of the council.

Ireland and Spain demanded an end to relations with Israel due to doubts about its compliance with the terms of the association agreement. Most Member States believe that diplomatic ties with Israel should continue, and this decision has been made.

Josep Borrell was ready for a suspension, but he presented the collected information about what was happening in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon so that everyone could draw conclusions about the course of this war. A decision to suspend the EU's association agreement with any state requires the unanimity of all 27 members of the Council of the European Union.
