The Main Intelligence Directorate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine evacuated 30 of their citizens from Lebanon after the situation worsened — video

On the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukraine organized the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Lebanon, where the security situation has deteriorated sharply. On August 3, 2024, a plane with 21 women and 9 children arrived in Poland. This was reported by military intelligence.

The GUR thanked the private company SkyUp Airlines for providing an aircraft for the evacuation. The Ukrainians who arrived in the Polish city of Rzeszow are safe and have received assistance from Ukrainian consuls and military intelligence representatives.

“Ukraine was one of the first countries in the world to successfully evacuate its citizens from Lebanon. As in previous cases of crises and armed conflicts abroad, Ukraine is demonstrating leadership in caring for its people,” the statement said.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry warned citizens of possible danger and recommended leaving Lebanon. Currently, intelligence officers and diplomats continue to work on the evacuation of other citizens wishing to leave the country.
