The National Police of Ukraine received documents on the search for former people's deputy Boryslav Bereza due to his evasion of military service.
According to available information, Bereza left Ukraine back in March of this year: he crossed the border with Moldova on foot through the Starokazache checkpoint. And since then he has not returned. Before that, he crossed the border a total of 21 times during the 2.5 years of war.
About this reports publication “Law and Business”.
In 2022, he refused to sign the summons and went into hiding in a monastery.
Bereza was a people's deputy in 2014-2019, winning the elections from the Desnyansky district of Kyiv as a non-party member. At the time, the media claimed that he had likely falsified the personal data submitted to the Central Election Commission.
After all, from 1991 to 1993 he lived in Israel and, according to journalistic investigations, he also has Israeli citizenship.
Sources claim that a procedure is currently being initiated to strip Bereza of his Ukrainian citizenship due to him having a passport from another country.
Bereza was a deputy from 2014 to 2019, but did not declare significant income. He is suspected of illegal enrichment, falsifying declarations and illegal use of income. In 2016, real estate was registered in his wife's name, the price of which was significantly lower than the market price. His wife, children and mother went abroad, where they acquired property.
According to media reports, Bereza is associated with bloggers of former President Petro Poroshenko and refuses to be mobilized for military service. At the same time, according to the publication, Bereza has recently been pursuing a hybrid information policy in the interests of Russia, which may indicate high treason on his part.
