The number of car thefts in Israel increased by 13%

In 2024, the number of stolen cars increased by 13% compared to the previous year. The majority of thefts (66%) were committed using the OBD diagnostic connector or frequency scanner, with 35% occurring during the day. The most popular category of stolen vehicles is SUVs and crossovers (49%), followed by cars (31%) and motorcycles (11%).

The majority of thefts (50%) occur in Gush Dan, 18% in Sharon district and 10% in Shfela district. These data indicate that it is necessary to strengthen measures to protect vehicles from theft and prevent such incidents. Car owners are advised to pay attention to safety equipment and monitor where they park their vehicles.
