The peacekeepers' headquarters was shelled, Italy is indignant at Israel.

Today, a 155mm artillery shell hit a General Peacekeeping Organization base in southern Lebanon. The shell damaged the wall of the gym, but did not explode. Sappers neutralized the threat, and personnel were in shelters due to fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.

“Unacceptable,” the Italian foreign minister told the Israeli minister.

Suspicion fell on the Israeli troops. The Italian Foreign Minister called his Israeli counterpart and demanded clarification. Israeli authorities called on the peacekeepers to leave the dangerous zones, but to no avail. The UN and the Italian government believe that the peacekeepers should remain in their positions.

Peacekeepers in the center of the conflict zone complain of danger but refuse to leave. They fail the main task, but they stay and complain about the risk. The Israeli authorities are trying to resolve the situation, but are faced with peacekeeping contradictions and dangers.
