The Jewish community, like the whole of Ukraine, steadfastly resists the occupiers, defending its homeland. This unity and support is evident both at the front and in the rear, where communities actively participate in humanitarian initiatives and help soldiers of both Jewish and Ukrainian origin.

David Straber was more than just a soldier. As told in Vinnytsia Jewish communityhe was an exemplary student at the local Jewish school, Or Avner Chabad.

“David was a role model,” shared the city’s rabbi and Chabad emissary, Rabbi Shaul Horowitz.

From early childhood, he stood out for his talent, diligence and commitment to his studies. But with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, David decided to defend his country. He enlisted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, inspired by a sense of duty and a mission to defend his native land.

“When the war began, he felt that he had to be on the front line, despite all the risks,” recalls Rabbi Horowitz.
