The Swiss parliament voted to stop funding UNRWA.

The lower house of the Swiss parliament has supported a bill to stop funding the UN Relief and Aid Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA). 99 deputies voted for the initiative, 88 voted against. The legislators justified the decision by glorifying terror.

Now the initiative must be considered by the upper house of parliament – ​​the Council of States. It is proposed to create an alternative mechanism for helping the Palestinians. At the same time, Israel has adopted a bill recognizing UNRWA and banning its activities in the country.

“Designating UNRWA as a terrorist organisation and banning its activities is an attack on regional stability and the human dignity of all those in need of assistance,” the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs said. He is calling for an end to this situation.
