The United States has completed its military mission in Iraq, a US government spokesman said.

The US and Iraqi authorities have agreed to end Operation Inherent Resolve against the Islamic State terrorist group in Iraq. The plan is to complete the mission within a year, but no later than September 2025. According to the agreement, the countries will move to security cooperation and continue the fight against terrorists in the region and at the global level. The US has pledged to withdraw its troops in accordance with Iraqi laws and the constitution.
