Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, expressed his opinion on Donald Trump’s role in establishing peace in Ukraine during an interview with Al Arabiya. He believes that Trump is capable of showing the same determination that contributed to the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

When asked if Trump could end the conflict in Ukraine, Johnson gave an affirmative answer, citing his success with Hamas and Netanyahu. According to the ex-premier, Trump needs to demonstrate to Putin that he is interested in a free Ukraine. If America’s true intentions become clear, progress in the negotiation process is possible.

The Need to Accelerate the Peace Process

Johnson emphasized that “the whole world” should demand freedom and independence for Ukraine. He noted that the war has been ongoing for three and a half years and called it important to accelerate the process of its conclusion. According to him, this is related to the high level of civilian casualties.

To lead to a peace agreement, Johnson proposed unfreezing 300 billion dollars of Russian assets located in Brussels and directing them to support Ukraine. This should serve as an advance for future reparations.

Attacks on Russian Military Bases

In addition, the ex-premier advocated for allowing Kyiv to strike Russian military bases used for attacks on Ukrainian cities. He pointed out the need to destroy oil refineries involved in supporting the Russian army.

Johnson emphasized the need for harsh measures against tankers transporting Russian oil bypassing sanctions. He proposed their destruction as a way to stop the exchange of resources supporting the conflict.

Call for International Support for Ukraine

Boris Johnson also spoke about the deployment of European ground troops in safe areas of Ukraine. In his opinion, this should show that Kyiv independently makes decisions about its alliances and the presence of foreign troops on its territory.

He noted that these troops will not participate in combat against Russia, but their presence should signal to Putin that Ukrainians insist on their independence.

On Speculations About a Possible Russian Victory

Johnson rejected claims of the inevitability of a Russian victory, emphasizing that their army continues to control less than 20 percent of Ukrainian territory. This is evidenced by the unsuccessful fulfillment of Russian military goals, including the disabling of half of the processing facilities.

In conclusion, the ex-premier noted that the United States should not bear the main burden of helping Ukraine alone. He called on European countries to actively support America and increase pressure on Moscow.
