The new government in Syria plans to create a huge army of 300 thousand people with the support of Turkey, said General Ahmed Osman, a representative of the Syrian authorities.
Türkiye will help rebuild its navy, air force and ground forces by sending advisers and deploying troops in five regions of Syria. Initially, a core of new troops will be created consisting of 70-80 thousand people, then the army will be increased to 120 thousand and will increase to 300 thousand in a year and a half.
The general noted that such a large army is necessary because of the threat from Israel. It is assumed that Türkiye will deploy air defense systems to protect against Israeli aircraft. At the start of the civil war, Assad's army numbered up to half a million soldiers.
