The patients include defenders with visual impairments as a result of mine blast injuries, those who have partially lost their sight, as well as civilians with aesthetic defects.

Israeli ophthalmologist surgeon Yoav Warditzer is helping patients with visual impairments and need for eye prosthetics during his five-day visit to Ukraine. During his visit, he provides consultations, performs surgeries, and trains Ukrainian specialists in prosthetics using special hypoallergenic acrylic.

Together with the Ukrainian team, Dr. Warditser has already operated on 9 patients, including reconstructive surgeries and preparing eyes for prosthetics. They have also adjusted several eye prostheses. The patients include Ukrainian defenders who suffered vision injuries as a result of explosions and civilians with aesthetic defects.

One of the patients, 43-year-old defender Serhiy Kozka from Volyn, lost his leg and left eye after stepping on a mine. He has already undergone surgery to prepare his eye socket for a prosthetic. Dr. Vardizer, who has more than 25 years of experience, is the head of the eyelid, orbital and lacrimal surgery department at Bnei Zion Medical Center in Israel and director of the Vardizer Clinic.

Dr. Warditzer noted that

“Israel is very close to Ukraine now because we are facing similar problems. We want to help Ukrainians in practice, especially young people who have many plans and dreams ahead. Therefore, we must make every effort for their happy future.”

The doctor has one more operating day ahead, during which he plans to perform five operations. He is already planning his next visit to the UNBROKEN Center in December of this year.
